2001 – Feb – Initial Risk Assessment by the Project Team
2001 – 20th Nov – Approval granted by Minister
2002 – Apr – The Dendrobium Tunnel portal construction commenced, going underground June 3rd. Driveage is mainly in the American Creek seam, ~8 metres below the Wongawilli seam.
2002 – May – The Kemira Valley Tunnel commences underground from a box cut.
2003 – Dendrobium #1 Ventilation Shaft is completed. 180m in depth, (177m to floor of seam), 4.25m diameter constructed remotely using the blind bore rotary drilling method. (Coal News, Issue 157 – June 2003)
2003 – One of a pair of twin centrifugal Flakt-Woods ventilation fans equipped with Variable Speed Drives (VSD) is fitted to #1 Shaft, the second planned for installation during the Area 1 extraction. Relocation to #2 Ventilation Shaft planned for the L/W 2-3 change out.
2005 – Apr - First Long wall shear commenced 13.30 hrs, 03/04/2005 (as per internal email)
2008 – Snapshot: – Wongawilli Seam 3.3-3.7 m, 160-300 m depth of cover. Production: 3,328,100t.
Longwall dimensions: Face 236m, length to 1955m. Joy 7LS-2A DERDS shearer; M/G drum 2.1m; T/G drum 2.1m dia. 1,144kW. Face support: 112 x Joy 2-leg shields. Face conveyor: Joy, KPB.
Development: 2 x Voest Alpine ABM20-Mk3, 2 x Joy 12CM30 continuous miners. 2 x Joy 10SC32, 2 x Waratah 15SC shuttle cars (ex Coal Services Pty Ltd, 2009)
